The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Western Regional Acquisition Office has issued a solicitation for commercial items for the identification and re-sighting of gray whales and sea lions.
As part of this contract, the contractor will conduct five vessel surveys for gray whales in the coastal waters of northern California and southern Oregon to obtain “identification photographs” of all gray whales encountered.

In addition, the contractor will conduct five surveys for marked Steller sea lions at St. George reef and at coastal sites in northern California and southern Oregon. The sea lions are to be photographed at various angles with a digital camera in order to record the animal’s brand or tag number.

The solicitation number is WAD-13-03011, and NOAA requests that only contractors registered with the System for Award Management submit quotes. Also, in order to be eligible, all those who submit quotes must have a Dun & Bradstreet number.

The solicitation was issued June 20, and the deadline to submit quotes is July 5. For information, contact Randall Brown at randall.w.brown@noaa.gov, and all submissions should be faxed to him at (206) 526-6025.
