The New York Times has a lengthy story on a 180-degree surveillance cam that digitally stitches together the output of five sensors. At just $800, with none of the distortion of fish-eye lenses, the Times figures it could be a hit with consumers.

According to the Times story, the Digital Window D7 uses five 1.3 megapixel sensors and “ingenious programs and a controller chip” to stitch together the 15 fps panoramic stream. It’s slated for release later this year.
