NEC Introduces 23-inch Desktop Display With One-Touch Green Mode

Display Uses Ambient Light Sensor for Automated Brightness.

NEC Display Solutions of America is releasing the MultiSync EA231WMi, a 23-inch 16:9 monitor for use in enterprise business environments, education and government applications.

It’s NEC’s first desktop unit with DisplayPort technology, delivering a diverse amount of additional input connectors. Its one-touch “Eco” mode lets users quickly maneuver between two energy-savings modes in addition to the “off” position.

Also new is an automated brightness function using an ambient light sensor, which detects the brightness level of the environment and adjusts the display with the best brightness setting.

“Our innovative 23-inch product offers a variety of new technologies to our desktop line, bringing the best features available to our customers and achieving the highest standards for ergonomics and environmental friendliness,” said Lynn Gu, product manager for NEC Display Solutions. “The EA231WMi is a ‘green display’ that utilizes several features for the user’s advantage, creating settings that lengthen the display’s life and working cohesively with any environment in which it is placed.”

The EA231WMi will begin shipping in August 2009 with an estimated price of $379 including a standard three-year parts and labor warranty, including the backlight.
