Intelsat's Mideast Capacity Grows With Turksat Deal

 Intelsat will have the option to participate with Turksat in its plans for continued growth in the region.

Intelsat has reached an with Turksat A.S., the leading satellite operator in Turkey, which Intelsat says will result in enhanced satellite capacity serving the Middle East region. The agreement gives Turksat satellite capacity on the Intelsat system while Turksat finalizes details of a new satellite. Intelsat will have the option to participate with Turksat in its plans for continued growth in the region.

"Global partnering is an important aspect of our growth program, and Turksat is an attractive partner with a heritage of serving its country and the region for nearly 20 years," said Phillip Spector, Intelsat's executive vice president for business development.

Turksat is the only satellite operator company in Turkey. It operates three satellites (Turksat 1C, Turksat 2A, Turksat 3A) and provides various types of satellite communications through these and other satellites. Turksat provides services in Turkey and elsewhere in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and North Africa.
