Intelligent storage and archiving workflow solutions company StorageDNA Inc., has added support for Linear Tape Open Version 6 with Linear Tape File System to “DNA Evolution,” the company’s archive and retrieval workflow solution.
Version 2.1 of DNA Evolution now supports LTO-6 and LTFS for its Linux, Mac and Thunderbolt field solutions, and it offers enhancements in user experience, interface design, error reporting, tape verification and integration support, StorageDNA says. New users can choose between LTO-5 and LTO-6 technology, and current users can upgrade to LTO-6, the company says.
LTO is “the most economical, high performing and safe long-term storage technology for the media and entertainment industries,” says Tridib Chakravarty, the company’s CEO and president.
The sixth generation of LTO increases capacity and data transfer rate to 2.5 terabytes and 160 megabytes per second, and LTFS adds to its benefits. DNA Evolution features direct-connect transfers and media data movers, and according to the company, maximizing the 160 megabytes per second performance and 2.5 terabytes of LTO-6
DNA Evolution maintains the integrity of digital assets while ensuring content openness and future access, StorageDNA says. The improved archival life, combined with automated and periodic tape health checks is intended to ensure media longevity, the company says.
