NASA Taps Young People to Help Develop Virtual Reality Technology

WASHINGTON—NASA is heading into a new frontier with the use of virtual reality technology. The agency is developing—in some cases, already has—a suite of VR environments at the Goddard Spaceflight Center in Maryland that can take users either to the surface of Mars or a lava tube in Idaho. Helping NASA along the way in developing these new programs are student interns, who have enthusiastically responded to NASA’s call for assistance in learning and utilizing this new technology.
