Connecticut Civic TV Goes Dark

24-hour cable TV government-access channel received a significant budget cut

HARTFORD, CONN.—Receiving a budget cut from $3.2 million to $1.6 million annually will make it “simply unworkable” for Connecticut Network (CT-N) to continue to operate, according to Paul Giguere, founder, president and CEO of Connecticut Public Affairs Network, which operates CT-N. As a result, for the first time since 1999, the 24-hour cable TV government-access channel has gone dark. The network provided “gavel-to-gavel” coverage of the Connecticut General Assembly via cable and later online.
