The U.S. Army has ordered more than 900 rugged Windows tablets from Xplore Technologies Corp., which will provide its iX104C5M to the service “over the next several months.”
“We are extremely pleased to announce receipt of the largest single military order in our history,” says Philip Sassower, Xplore’s Chairman and CEO. “The value proposition of our rugged tablet computer should make it the device of choice for military field applications,” he added.
The iX104C5 Dual-Mode Sunlight-Readable Tablet is the most rugged, powerful and longest-lasting tablet in the world, Xplore says. The tablet is Xplore’s fifth generation rugged tablet, and it has been engineered and proven to operate in the most demanding environments, the company says.
In addition, Xplore expects the military to order several thousand more of its rugged tablets. “Xplore’s ultra-rugged tablet solution is gaining traction in military applications in the U.S. and other countries by delivering on our promise of value, performance and reliability,” says Mark Holleran, Xplore’s president and COO. “The iX104C5M is the best tablet for use in military deployments, whether supporting special operations, managing workflows on the flight line or delivering real-time data to mobile field units,” he said.
