The Alliance for Community Media, a public, education and government channel advocacy group, is accepting entries for its Hometown Media Awards.
Previously known as the Hometown Video Awards, the name change better reflects the media used by PEG channels, ACM says.
The awards are intended to honor and promote community media and local cable programs distributed on PEG channels. Award recipients are “creative programs that address community needs, develop diverse community involvement, challenge conventional commercial television formats and move viewers to experience television in a different way,” ACM says
The group says the Hometown Media Awards is local cable’s largest video awards competition, and winners will be recognized during the Alliance for Community Media 2013 Conference and Exhibition held in San Francisco from May 29-31. The deadline for submissions is Feb. 28.
