The website supporting the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Retraining Assistance Program provides information that serves its audience of unemployed veterans who need vocational training.
The VRAP is part of the VOW to Hire Heroes Act of 2011 (P.L. 112-56) and it offers participants with up to 12 months of training assistance. VRAP provides veterans with funding to attend vocational schools to attain the skills needed to fulfill a “high-demand occupation” as determined by the Department of Labor (a list of such high-demand occupations is also provided on the website).
The website provides details on the program, including videos of unemployed veterans who have trained, or are training, at vocational schools. The website also links to a video posted on YouTube that provides instruction on how to fill out the application for the program.
For being an example of how a website can serve the audience the main program is designed to serve, VRAP’s website is Government Video’s Website of the Week.
