The County of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation recently launched its own YouTube channel to share information and create a digital media initiative.
“Our mission to create community through people, parks, and programs can now also be carried out by creating a new parks and recreation community through social networking,” said Russ Guiney, director of the Department of Parks and Recreation. “Our YouTube channel is an innovative way to share with Los Angeles County and the world our amazing parks and services. Whether it’s a clip of skateboarders doing tricks at Belvedere Skate Park or a closer look at the endangered animals housed at one of our natural areas, we hope to capture a wider audience through YouTube.”
The channel will showcase original videos produced by the department, including PSAs, park tours, interviews, closer looks at the department’s animals, and facilities and programs. The site will also link to YouTube content created by County of Los Angeles park visitors.
The first video posted is the Stop and Smell the Flowers PSA, which is part of the Play for Life! public information and social marketing campaign launched earlier this year. Content will be posted regularly.
The channel can be visited at youtube.com/lacountyparks.
