New United checked baggage policy could impact video professionals

A new checked baggage policy from United Airlines for domestic flights could result in additional fees and aggravation for video professionals who travel with gear.
From the United Web site: Customers purchasing nonrefundable domestic economy tickets who do not have status in Mileage Plus or Star Alliance may check one bag for free and a second bag for a $25 service fee.

This is a major problem for those of us who travel with equipment, said Charlie Kendall, director of photography for Moon Bounce Media. Usually we are paying additional fees on top of our two checked bags. However, in addition to being more expensive for us, this will likely also increase the amount of luggage brought into the cabin and stored overhead.
If you don't like the policy, you can e-mail Uniteds customer service: faq.ua2go.com
