Streambox helps American Red Cross enhance emergency response capabilities
by GV staff
April 30, 2007

Streambox and the American Red Cross announced plans to deploy Streambox ACT-L3 newsgathering solutions to Red Cross field workers in an effort to enhance mobility, decrease response times, and quickly deploy resources to areas affected by disasters. Streambox systems will facilitate an effective means of viewing real-time disaster relief that will help operations during national responses.
The American Red Cross will deploy the compact SBT3-7500 or portable video transport systems, both of which are easy to carry and can be set up in minutes at any location. While not a government agency, the employees and volunteers of the American Red Cross are active in disaster relief. The Streambox solution also includes IFB and broadcast servers, which enable use of the back channel connection to communicate even when other infrastructures have been knocked out.

With the move to Streambox systems, the American Red Cross gains an integrated solution for transmission of video and audio over low data rate networks. The multiple-system deployment also enables the relief organization to cover events simultaneously, deploy resources to ensure efficient coverage, and exchange information in an effort to maximize preparedness and coordination efforts.
