The 14th Judicial District and Lake Charles City Court in Lake Charles, LA recently has come up with a new, efficient way to conduct arraignments. The Court recently began using WiredReds e/pops Web and videoconferencing software, which essentially links it to local jails via video arraignments.
Before this new system was deployed, the Court had to shuttle inmates back and forth, or a clerk would drive to the jail. But now, inmates and judges can see and hear each other in realtime during court proceedings.
Weve increased the amount of arraignments fivefold. Our Judges get more work done, and weve cut the cost of transportation and security for trips to and from the jail, thanks to e/pop, said Tim Leger, MIS manager for the 14th Judicial District and Lake Charles City Court.
The e/pop software is installed on a standard PC server at the courthouse and connected to the jail remotely via frame relay. The conference session traffic is transmitted securely on the courts private network, not publicly over the Internet.
The/pop Web and Video Conferencing includes multiparty video, VoIP, remote control, record and playback, plus complete desktop, application/document and presentation sharing.
