IDC Renews Contract With Canadian Forces Radio and Television Network

International Datacasting Corp. will continue to provide all aspects of programming services for Canadian Forces Radio and Television (CFRT) now serving Canadian Forces around the world. including the Middle East and Afghanistan.

Duties under the $2.8 million CDN from the Canadian Department of National Defence (DND) include negotiating rights and permissions, and scheduling, recording, and uplinking the network from its Ottawa based network operations center.

The contract represents the first of two renewal options that are part of the overall contract that IDC won in a competitive tender process in December 2008. 



"This marks the tenth consecutive year that IDC has provided this service to our troops serving overseas and we are honoured to be able to continue to provide the high quality radio and television programming that our troops have come to rely on," said Ron Clifton, IDC President and CEO.



The Canadian Forces Radio and Television (CFRT) network delivers entertainment programming, sports and news over two television channels (English and French) as well as FM radio. IDC provides the service to Canadian Forces and peacekeeping troops deployed around the globe. IDC, based in Ottawa, is a leader in providing IP-based datacasting solutions for the distribution of broadband multimedia content. Its technology products are marketed under the names SuperFlex, Datacast XD, Tiernan, Logic Innovations and PROFline for implementing a wide range of satellite and other broadband content contribution and distribution networks.
